Death Valley is a land of subtle beauty and sharp contrast. On the dry lake bed, delicate tissue-thin flowers bring contemporary color to the archaic playa. At Badwater, the lowest point on the continent makes the view of the highest point (Mt. Whitney, 14,400), that much more remarkable. Hidden high in the hills, much-appreciated desert oases bring an abundance of life to Death Valley.
We will spend four days exploring Death Valley National Park from our base camp below the Funeral Mountains. Highlights include Zabriske Point, Scotty's Castle and Dante's View. The trip ends with a visit to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, one of the best kept secrets in Las Vegas. There, we will hike and bike through the seven sister canyons into one of the most vivid thrust faults in the world, the Keystone Thrust.
in 2007, our Death Valley support vehicle will be fueled by vegetable oil.
